Benefits for Retired Faculty and Staff
Retired Faculty and Staff ID Card
Retired faculty and staff may obtain their updated Cougar identification card from the Cougar Card Services Office at 162 Calhoun St. in Berry Hall.
TheCougar ID card may be used to pay for goods/services at the following campus locations:
- The College of Charleston Bookstore
- All Campus Dining Locations
- Market 159
- Parking Services Office
- Mail Services
- College of Charleston Copy Center
- Addlestone Library (includes printers and photocopiers)
- Wentworth Parking Garage
- St. Philip Parking Garage
- Health Services
- TD Arena Concessions
- Select Vending Machines
The Cougar ID also entitles retired faculty and staff to reduced parking fees ($5.00 per day) at the Wentworth and St. Philip Street Garage (North of Calhoun, next to the Public Safety Office) when attending meetings and events at the College of Charleston.
When leaving the parking garage, retired faculty/staff should use Cougar ID to pay for parking. Funds must be pre-loaded onto the card at the Cougar Card Office.
Note: All retired faculty and staff are eligible. There are no membership dues.
Registration as a Senior Citizen in Credit Courses at the College of Charleston
Each semester, senior citizens (SC residents 60 years of age and over) may register for credit courses tuition-free. The registration fee is $50; additional course fees may apply.
The registration period differs depending on whether the course(s) is being taken for college credit, or if course is being audited. The registration periods are as follows:
Credit: during the “drop/add” period in a given semester
Audit: the day following the end of the “drop/add” period
Senior citizens who wish to register should make a registration appointment with the Office of Admissions.

The retired faculty/staff ID card allows you to use all the library services provided to active faculty/staff members. For specific questions contact the library information desk (firstname.lastname@example.org, 843.953.8000) or James Williams (email@example.com).
Retired Faculty and Staff also enjoy the same reduced fees and privileges as active faculty and staff members for the following:
- Athletic Events
- School of the Arts Performances and Events
- Campus Recreational Services (Fitness classes)
