Advancing Diversity and Inclusion: Building Successful Organizations and Communities

September 25, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

Event Navigation

The College of Charleston, The Medical University of South Carolina, The Citadel, Denny’s, Boeing, The Chambers of Commerce and many other Private, Public and Community organizations have partnered to launch a unique initiative aimed at advancing the management of human differences in the workplace and community. Recent tragedies and the ongoing challenge of translating diversity into a core organizational and community strength suggests an urgent need to advance the understanding and management of human differences.  We hope that you will join this expanding collaboration and help us reach our full potential as a diverse society.

We invite you to join us for a special inaugural event at the School of Professional Studies at the College of Charleston on the 25th of September.  This event brings together business leaders and practitioners, educators, politicians, community leaders, and the broader community to explore and advance the management of human differences. The day will emphasize a new approach to promoting inclusion and dialogue, and will include highly interactive panel and community discussions integrated with art, music and food that highlights the challenges and joys of human diversity.

The day will feature:

• Unique approaches to promote dialogue and inclusion

• Highly interactive panels comprising business and community leaders

• Facilitated break-out discussion groups that encourage broad participation

• Food, artwork and musical performances inspired by issues of diversity and inclusion

There will be two rounds of panel discussion. The first will focus on sharing experiences and assessing the current state of managing human differences within the workplace and beyond. The second will address what needs to be done to transform our perceptions and practices. Each panel session will be followed by a community discussion.
