Who Should Apply?
The course is designed for individuals who are working - or have worked - in the financial services industry.

Applicants are expected to have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Additionally, applicants should typically be able to demonstrate three or more years of experience in the financial services industry.

Applicants who lack the aforementioned credentials may be admitted.  An interview will help determine whether success in the program is highly likely.
We have previously admitted candidates who have no professional background in financial services, but who were opting for a career change.  Additionally, we have admitted students who are taking the program to enhance their personal understanding of financial planner.

Students who lack a strong background in financial services should expect to invest additional study time in order to keep pace.

One of the best things about the program was the instructors. All were great and had different styles of teaching. The time with the instructors in combination with the instructional videos on the CFFP site meant that I would get the same materials in a variety of ways. One of the things I did to be in a better position to pass the exam was to watch the CFFP videos on the material to be covered in class beforehand. That way, I could get all of my questions answered in the classroom setting. Having the online review lectures helped me to know exactly what to focus on, and this played a major part in my readiness for the exam. I’m encouraging others to take the program!

The CFP® Certification Education Program at the College of Charleston was extremely beneficial. If you’re used to learning in a classroom, choose this program. It’s a chance for you to go to class and dedicate the required time to the material. The instructors did a great job and took me through the gauntlet leading up to the CFP® exam at the end, and I’m ecstatic about passing on the first try.
